Q: As a leader in transnational education, can you tell us about UCL’s partner universities?

A: Universal College Lanka (UCL) was established in 2015 to offer quality higher education programmes to discerning students in Sri Lanka so that they could compete on a global platform. It is now positioned as the country’s premier transnational higher education provider that has established exclusive partnerships with top globally ranked universities.

UCL is the exclusive partner of Monash University in Sri Lanka. It provides a guaranteed pathway to the prestigious Monash University, which is ranked 57th in the world and is part of the Group of Eight universities in Australia.

Further, UCL is privileged to be the first Sri Lankan higher education provider to partner with a Canadian University and offer a Canadian degree in Sri Lanka on a 2+2 model. Renowned Dalhousie University, which is a top ranked U15 research intensive university in Canada, offers its Bachelor of Computer Science and Bachelor of Applied Computer Science degree programmes for the benefit of Sri Lankan students.

UCL also provides world-class British education in Sri Lanka in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire, and offers its BSc (Hons) Software Engineering, BA (Hons) International Business and the recently introduced BA (Hons) Business and Marketing degree programmes, which can be completed in Sri Lanka or in the UK.

Universal College Lanka has also partnered with NCC Education in the UK, which is a global provider of British education. UCL is offering NCC Education’s International Foundation Diploma, which provides an opportunity for students to access over 90 universities internationally.

Q: How does UCL hope to provide its students with a guaranteed pathway toward academic success?

A: In an increasingly knowledge-based world, quality education is more important than ever. UCL is committed to offering quality higher education and maintaining the most stringent international standards. Universal College Lanka plays a key role in the lives of students as they transition from secondary to tertiary level education by nurturing and preparing them to excel in a world-class university.

UCL offers the only guaranteed pathway from Sri Lanka to Monash University in Australia or Malaysia. The educational institution has consistently produced over 350 winners of Monash Global Awards of Excellence, and outperformed other Monash partners internationally. UCL students have progressed to Monash University and emerged as Best Business Graduate, Best Engineering Graduate and the Best IT Graduate at recent graduation ceremonies.

At the recent graduation ceremony of the University of Central Lancashire held in Sri Lanka, 80 percent of those graduating achieved First Class Honours. Their pass rate was 100 percent during the four-year degree programme. UCL is truly proud of this hallmark of academic excellence. These high calibre graduates also secured employment well before graduation.

Q: How do students benefit from skills development initiatives at UCL?

UCL strives to provide a holistic learning process, which is student-centric in nature, and focusses on each one’s intrinsic skills and talents in addition to their focus on academic achievement. A plethora of extracurricular activities such as sports, clubs/societies and events are conducted to help develop nontechnical skills, and enhance the student experience at UCL.

Undergraduates are provided with guaranteed internships and job placements in Sri Lanka’s blue-chip companies and multinational firms.

There’s a unique learning experience instilled at UCL. It’s a combination of knowledge, skills and industry exposure, and the development of a winning attitude to ultimately become resourceful, enterprising and sought after leaders who will contribute effectively to social and economic development, both locally and internationally.
