The Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association has reported apparel revenues of US$ 4.4 billion for the period from January to November 2017 – this number exceeds the yearly figure of 4.3 billion dollars in 2016.

Addressing the launch of the annual Apparel Industry Suppliers Exhibition (AISEX) 2018, Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen reported expected annual revenues of 4.7 billion dollars for 2017. The minister also stated that monthly exports for November 2017 exceeded that of November 2016 by 11 percent, and praised the apparel industry and exporters for their performance.

The largest export markets for Sri Lanka’s apparel industry are the US and Europe with exports to both markets increasing during the first 11 months of 2017 when compared to the corresponding period of 2016.
