NDB Donates an Air Disinfectant Unit (ADU) to The National Hospital of Sri Lanka

NDB Bank recently donated a high quality ‘Air Disinfectant Unit’ (ADU) to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka.

The Unit was handed over to Dr W K. Wickremesinghe, Deputy Director General of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka by Melody Wickramanayake – VP Legal and Prasanna Jayawardhana, Senior Manager, Privilege and Privilege Select Banking.

This Disinfectant Unit from Sweden uses Hydrogen Peroxide Vapour which is highly effective for disinfecting room air, furniture and other articles and is safer for human beings than any other form of purifier. Thus making it safer for the medical staff who works at the hospital.

The ADU will be installed at the ‘Specimen Lab’ which has been set up to specifically test suspected Covid-19 cases. This virus has demonstrated the capability to spread rapidly, leading to significant impacts on the medical staff engaged in testing, and thereby disrupting the health care systems. Therefore, if the area is not disinfected the doctors and nurses are vulnerable and if infected have to be quarantined which impedes the day to day operations of the hospital and is detrimental to the patients in this hour of crisis.

Disinfecting the air will keep the staff doctors and nurses from being vulnerable to the virus.

According to Dr. W K. Wickremesinghe this Unit is highly beneficial to the medical staff and ensures their safety during this crisis.

The Bank has made several initiatives to ensure that the public is as safe from the COVID-19 pandemic as possible. Additionally, as a part of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the Bank recently donated funds for a Fully Automated Nucleic Acid Extraction and PCR Systems – a vital machine that helps conduct medical tests faster.
