Prof. Ramani Arsecularatne receives recognition from Women in Management for three decades of service

Q: Could you explain the philosophy behind the Christell Skin Clinic and how it came about?

A: It began with the identification of the demand for skincare consultancy in Sri Lanka.Following careful consideration of the market, we were able to transform our existing Christell Skin Clinic into the new and improved Christell Luxury Wellness with the goal of offering nonsurgical cosmetic procedures combined with luxury wellness treatments under one roof for the first time in Sri Lanka.

As every individual’s needs are different, we prescribe treatments that are best suited to clients’ goals, priorities and tolerance to pain, merging signature services and effective products with cutting-edge nonsurgical medical technology.

In essence, we are one of the most advanced cosmetic skincare centres in the nation, looking to combine the perfect blend of aesthetics and medical science to offer clients solutions to all their skin, hair and body care needs.

Christell Luxury Wellness promises a holistic physical and psychological wellness experience, fusing the ancient traditions of Ayurveda with the science of modern integrative medicine.

Q: What contributes to Christell Skin Clinic’s edge in today’s health and wellness market?

A: With more than 25 years of experience in noninvasive and nonsurgical skin treatments, we have rare insight into the needs of clients of all ethnicities. This has enabled us to select and create new treatment plans with the least downtime and virtually painless skin treatments.

Additionally, we have exclusive access to the latest US FDA approved technologies and treatments, which Dr. Shanika Arsecularatne and Prof. Ramani Arsecularatne study while travelling around the world. This has enabled us to introduce best practices and skincare treatments from the US, Europe and Asia to our clinic.

Q: How does the clinic address the negative stereotypes that are associated with cosmetic treatments – especially those pertaining to safety?

A: All medical treatments at Christell Skin Clinic are conducted using the highest skincare protocols. Dr. Arsecularatne and Prof. Arsecularatne formulate our skincare plans while all the clinic’s medical equipment is handled by trained professionals.

We are also proud of Dr. Arsecularatne’s recognition as one of LMD’s ‘Millennial Torchbearers’ among the country’s hardworking generation Z. It has been humbling given the turbulent times we have faced in the sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Q: How does it feel to be recognised at the 10th edition of the Top50 Professional and Career Women Awards for Sri Lanka and the Maldives?

A: We are grateful to Women in Management (WIM) for recognising Prof. Arsecularatne’s three decades of effort in creating self-employment opportunities for thousands of women, and humbled and proud of these achievements.

Q: In your opinion, what is driving the increased focus on health and wellness in Sri Lanka?

A: As a nation that has practised the age old science of Ayurveda, and complementary medical science to cure illness and improve wellbeing while healthcare standards continue to be high, Sri Lanka is the perfect destination for one to enjoy an island vacation and improve his or her health and wellbeing from a 360 degree perspective.

Q: How would you describe the competition – and what strategies do you employ to stay ahead?

A: Christel Luxury Wellness is positioned as the only clinic combining cosmetic and anti-aging medicine, Ayurveda and integrative medicine to offer a holistic wellness solution.

As a company, we hope to collaborate with hospitality partners and others in the wellness sector to create a unique offering, for both local and foreign clients. This will enable us to offer services over and above those of a basic Ayurveda wellness retreat.

 

Q: What are the latest trends and innovations in health and wellness?

A: Health and wellness is one area where new practices, techniques and products are constantly being introduced.

We introduced the concept of ‘vita drips’ – an integrative wellness method that involves delivering deficient nutrients, and removing toxins and heavy metals from the body.

Additionally, we introduced a new treatment with stem cells that can regenerate hair and skin faster. We also hope to introduce many new and innovative wellness treatments in the near future.

Q: In the light of the new year, what are the clinic’s plans?

A: We hope to create unique wellness plans to position Sri Lanka as a preferred choice for cosmetic and wellness tourism compared to larger countries, such as Thailand and India.
