ROAR GLOBAL BUILDS THE NEXT WAVE OF BUSINESS-FOCUSED AI SOLUTIONS THROUGH COMPANY-WIDE HACKATHON

Colombo, Sri Lanka, [1 September 2026] – Roar Global recently concluded the 2026 edition of its annual AI Hackathon, a company-wide initiative designed to turn employees’ understanding of real business challenges into practical, AI-enabled solutions.
Launched in 2025 and expanded this year, the hackathon supports Roar Global’s wider evolution into an AI-led venture builder. It gives employees across all functions, not only technical teams, the opportunity to experiment, collaborate and develop solutions capable of delivering measurable business value.
Forty-one submissions were evaluated based on the strength of the problem identified, the practicality and scalability of the proposed AI solution, and its potential to generate revenue, improve efficiency, reduce costs or enhance customer experience. Following a preliminary review and an AI-assisted shortlisting process, five finalists advanced to present their solutions before a panel of judges.

“The hackathon reflects the culture we are building at Roar, where AI is not limited to a specialist function but becomes part of how our people think, operate and build,” said Mustafa Kassim, Founder and CEO of Roar Global. “The strongest ideas at this year’s hackathon came from people who understood the problems first-hand and were willing to take ownership of solving them.”
Roar Global HRIS, developed by Ishani Karunadasa, Regional Director – People Operations and Strategy at Roar Global, was named the winning product. Tagmedic, created by Azeem Sheriff, Senior Account Manager at 3P Media, emerged as runner-up. The winner and runner-up received cash prizes of LKR 1 million and LKR 500,000 respectively.
The remaining finalist products were Toggle, developed by Dakshi Sangar and Sandali Guruge of 3P Media; SEOroids, developed by Niresh Bandaranayake and Joy Jathinson of BrandRadar; and AdPilot AI, developed by Sasitha Gamage and Akash Timothy of 3P Media.
Together, the finalists demonstrated a shared instinct across the group: to recognise problems and opportunities within their respective businesses and build smarter ways forward. Through initiatives such as the AI Hackathon and Velocity by Roar Labs, Roar Global is embedding experimentation, product thinking and practical AI adoption across its teams.
The programme forms part of Roar Global’s broader commitment to building businesses, talent and infrastructure for an increasingly AI-driven economy across Sri Lanka and the Asia-Pacific region.
