ADITYA RESORT, GALLE, SRI LANKA’S FIRST EVER BOUTIQUE HOTEL COMPLETES 20 YEARS OF SLOW, UNDERSTATED LUXURY

Located close to Galle on Sri Lanka’s southern coastline, Aditya Resort prides itself on being Sri Lanka’s
first ever boutique luxury hotel, known for its unique brand of personalised hospitality and slow luxury.
Aditya Resort opened its doors in 2005, enjoying the registration number ‘001’ in Sri Lanka Tourism
Board’s boutique hotel category.

With just 12 expansive suites and 2 villas, each with private plunge pools, Aditya enjoys a loyal client
base from Sri Lanka and across the world, staying here to enjoy its discreet, personalised service in a
secluded beachfront setting.

Originally envisioned as a private holiday bungalow by its owners, Aditya evolved into a design-led
luxury retreat while maintaining the warmth and exclusivity of a private residence. Over the past two
decades, the resort has become one of Sri Lanka’s most loved boutique hospitality destinations. Designed
by architect Bernard Gomez with interiors by Patricia Mamelka, the property blends rustic open-plan
architecture with curated global influences, from Rajasthani antiques to Balinese contemporary décor,
while expansive open spaces allow ocean breezes and natural light to flow seamlessly throughout the
resort.

Each suite is custom designed and named after the Hindu Mythological Adityas – the children of the sun God Aditya and his consort Aditi.

Signature accommodations include the Surya Suite, which is the resort’s penthouse offering expansive upper and lower levels, a private sundeck with a stunning 360 degree views, and an open-air plunge pool. The private Pool Villas provide secluded two-suite layouts complete with lap pools and rooftop jacuzzis overlooking the ocean.

Art, design and craftsmanship are central to the Aditya experience, from intricately carved bedheads and antique furnishings to statement decorative pieces throughout the property. Beyond the property, guests have access to a curated collection of experiences including whale watching, boat safaris, customised village cycling tours, cookery demonstrations, and guided visits to Galle Fort and nearby cultural attractions.

Now celebrating over two decades of hospitality, Aditya continues to stand apart through its commitment to privacy, personalised service, and experience-led luxury, remaining one of Sri Lanka’s most distinctive boutique beachfront escapes.

Husain Dawoodbhoy, Managing Director, Aditya Resort, “Aditya is a labour of love for us and it feels special to be celebrating its 20th anniversary of this unique, boutique hotel. We are so proud to be the front runners of the boutique hospitality space, which Sri Lanka has come to be known for. And we’re thrilled that we have a huge fan base of Aditya loyalists from across the world, who come regularly to experience our beautiful island’s south coast at Aditya.”
