Q: How has Giovanni’s Presto Pizza established itself as a renowned name in Colombo’s culinary scene since its humble beginnings in 2014?

A: Giovanni’s Presto Pizza or Gio’s began its journey by prioritising quality ingredients, authentic recipes and attentive service. Our commitment to excellence and passion for Italian cuisine quickly gained recognition, allowing us to carve a niche in Colombo’s culinary landscape.

Q: What factors have contributed to Giovanni’s ability to maintain a loyal customer base, and expand its offering beyond pizza to include pasta and other Italian cuisine?

A: Our ability to maintain a loyal customer base and expand offering stems from our dedication to evolving with our clientele’s tastes. While pizza was our initial speciality, we recognised the demand for a broader Italian culinary experience. Thus, we expanded our menu to include pasta and other Italian dishes, ensuring that there’s something for everyone.

Q: Can you elaborate on the significance of naming the restaurant after your Italian friend Giovanni and how his support shaped the restaurant’s ethos?

A: Naming the restaurant after my Italian friend Giovanni holds deep significance as it honours my Italian heritage and the personal support he provided during the restaurant’s inception. His friendship and encouragement shaped the ethos of Gio’s, imbuing it with authenticity, camaraderie and a commitment to excellence.

Q: What should be done to establish and strengthen trade relationships between Sri Lanka and Italy?

A: Strengthening trade relationships between Sri Lanka and Italy requires collaborative efforts from both governments and businesses. Initiatives such as trade delegations, bilateral agreements and cultural exchanges can foster greater understanding and cooperation.

Additionally, promoting Italian cuisine and products in Sri Lanka can stimulate interest and demand.

Q: How has your organisation (including its brands, products and services) adapted to the local market over the years?

A: Over the years, Gio’s has adapted to the local market by sourcing ingredients locally whenever possible, customising recipes to suit local tastes, and actively engaging with the community through events and promotions. This adaptation ensures that we continue to provide authentic Italian experiences while catering to the preferences of our Sri Lankan patrons.

Q: Can you share your organisation’s brand philosophy for its Sri Lankan operations?

A: Our brand philosophy for Gio’s in Sri Lanka revolves around authenticity, quality and hospitality. We prioritise authentic Italian recipes, high quality ingredients and attentive service to ensure a genuine culinary experience for our patrons.

Our goal is not only to provide delicious food but also create memorable dining experiences that keep customers coming back.
