Sri Lanka achieves revised tourist arrival target

Sri Lanka has managed to achieve its revised tourist arrival target for 2019 despite it being a tough year for the industry and country at large.

Tourist arrivals stood at 1.9 million as of 31 December – an 18 percent decline from 2018. The initial target for 2019 was set at 2.5 million tourists but was later revised due to the Easter Sunday attacks.

December recorded the highest number of international tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka for 2019. A majority of tourists were from India with the UK and Russia following closely behind as the second and third largest source markets.
