The Sri Lanka Foreign Policy and Economic Diplomacy Dialogue 2018 organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded recently. It focussed on Sri Lanka’s current state of affairs including its economy, trade, investment, entrepreneurship, foreign policy and governance, tourism, sustainable development, security, research and innovation, and emergence as the ‘Indian Ocean hub.’

Conducted in collaboration with the Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute (BIDTI) and the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute (LKI), the programme was attended by diplomats from 23 countries.

Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Prasad Kariyawasam said the dialogue showcased Sri Lanka’s potential to interact with the rest of the world, and was the country’s contribution to the promotion of multilateralism and friendship among countries.

On behalf of visiting diplomats, Peta Helen Donald of Australia commended the dialogue and said they could return to their countries as ambassadors for Sri Lanka.
