The newly constructed paediatric ward of the Negombo General Hospital was declared open by Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne at a ceremony held recently.

Built at a cost of over Rs. 200 million, the three storey complex is fitted with state-of-the-art medical equipment, operating theatres, and other modern facilities including an isolation room and play areas. It can accommodate up to 100 children for inpatient treatment at a given time.

The private sector helped build the ward after the Easter Sunday attacks and is expected to continue its support to maintain the facility.
