NURSING CROSSES GLOBAL WATERS
An MOU was signed recently between the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment and an American company, Michigan-based Karma Services, to provide job opportunities for more than 3,000 local nurses in US hospitals.
M. M. G. Ruwani Ranasinghe, a registered nurse of the Sri Lanka Medical Council who worked at the Kandy general hospital, is the first Sri Lankan nurse to be recruited under this agreement while 20 other nurses are undergoing similar training. She recently left the country for nursing service at a US hospital.
Karma Services recruits and places qualified English-speaking healthcare professionals with employers in the US, the UAE and South Africa.
