Q: How has NDB evolved in turbulent economic times to retain customer confidence and become a leading financial services provider?

A: Amidst the challenges of a turbulent economic situation, NDB proactively embraced a consumer-centric approach, recognising the unique financial situations our customers navigate. Our response has been meticulously tailored, acknowledging individual needs rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all strategy.

To address the impact of fluctuating interest rates, we prioritised transparency and open communication. Our innovative financial solutions, such as adjustable rate products and interest rate caps, not only provide stability but also mitigate risks for our customers.

We have also offered moratoriums, and restructured certain loan facilities and repayment methods, ensuring the financial stability of our valued customers in uncertain times.

In line with a commitment to increasing financial inclusivity, our digital platforms have played a pivotal role. Through these channels, customers can access banking facilities and services without the need to visit branches.

NDB’s NEOS platform in particular stands as a testament to our dedication to making banking accessible and convenient, allowing customers to connect seamlessly with our products and services.

Q: As the new CEO, what is your vision for the future of the bank, and what strategic plans do you have in place to achieve that vision?

A: My vision is to position NDB as the foremost customer-centric and digitally advanced futuristic bank. To achieve this vision, we have developed a comprehensive strategic plan that focusses on key areas.

First, we aim to deepen customer relationships through data analytics. Leveraging customer data, we gain insights into their needs and preferences, allowing us to personalise offerings and provide a tailored banking experience.

This approach not only strengthens our relationships with existing customers but also serves as a magnet to attract new ones. In tandem, we have invested substantially in cybersecurity and robust security measures. Ensuring the utmost security in every interaction is paramount to our approach.

We also plan to expand touch points with customers by establishing innovative channels and partnerships, such as our flagship digital banking platform NDB NEOS and its extensions.

Our goal is to provide a seamless and convenient banking experience across various platforms, ensuring accessibility for customers wherever they are and improving their lifestyles.

In addition to investing in new-age technologies such as AI, augmented reality (AR), chatbots, open banking and cybersecurity, we aim to stay ahead of the curve by adopting a holistic approach that integrates automation, consumer-centricity and emerging technologies that can redefine the banking landscape. Collaborating with fintech startups fosters a culture of innovation, solidifying our position as a pioneer in the banking sector.

Sustainable growth remains a priority as is integrating environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) principles into our core operations.

A commitment to CSR is reflected in impactful initiatives that extend beyond banking, contributing to the wellbeing of society and the environment.
