From humble beginnings in 1978 as a printing and packaging company providing packaging solutions to the FMCG sector, JF&I Packaging has expanded its services to a range of sectors and industries – including apparel, FMCG, tea and medical.

The company currently operates in three countries and employs a talented workforce of over 1,100 employees, converting around 36,000 MT of paper, board and films annually.

Recognised as one of the largest and most diversified printing and packaging companies in South Asia, JF&I Packaging operates in Sri Lanka through five production facilities equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

In order to align itself with current global market trends, the company has set up onshore production facilities in the UAE and Kenya with a proposed facility in Bangladesh scheduled to commence operations before the end of this year. Recent acquisition by Technomedics International has complemented execution of these expansion strategies and is expected to remark favourably in JF&I’s future growth and success.

Exporting our products to countries such as the US, Bangladesh, India, Egypt and Thailand, and the EU, has ensured revenue growth of 20 percent year on year even amid the pandemic. JF&I is supported by its experienced customer service representation in the United States as well.

Renowned for offering innovative and cost-effective packaging solutions, we currently serve a vast portfolio of industries around the globe through our offset, flexible, value-added corrugated and digital printing solutions.

Through our dedicated service and attention to detail, we have developed longstanding relationships with global clients – including giants in their respective fields such as Unilever, Ansell and Ahmad Tea.

Additionally, we have successfully secured supplier nominations for reputed apparel brands such as Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Tchibo, M&S, Puma, Michael Kors and Victoria’s Secret.

Unlike many others, JF&I recorded substantial growth during the COVID-19 pandemic. When the pandemic hit, we experienced many challenges in logistics and supply chain management.

However, by responding immediately and increasing our stock holding period from 1-2 months to 4-5 months, we were able to offset any adverse effects on our business. These decisions paid off as we were better prepared for the supply chain challenges that followed and able to meet our clients’ needs during these challenging times.

During this time, we were also able to ensure market growth by focussing on new innovations and our sustainability initiatives. These efforts are centred on four main pillars: reducing our carbon footprint, sustainability through material circularity, reducing the impact on the environment, and optimised designs.

We’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint through all production processes. By investing in new technologies with less energy consumption and reengineering packaging with less materials, we are able provide solutions that result in less carbon emissions to the environment.

By partnering with local manufacturers to convert our own production waste into printable recycled material, we have been able to ensure sustainability through material circularity. We believe this will result in a reduction of landfills, a lower negative impact on the marine environment and enhancing the overall positive impact on local communities around us.

These practices are aligned with the requirements of the Global Recycling Standards (GRS). With the aim of reducing our impact to the environment, we engage in continuous assessment and regular monitoring of our water and energy consumption, making substantial savings wherever possible.

JF&I is proud to be recognised as a zero landfilling manufacturing company with a minimum hazardous waste output due to it being used as energy in other industries. Through these initiatives, we’re proud to be accredited by the Higg Index.

By driving process innovations and material reduction in the production process, we have been able to offer optimised designs to our customers. This has also enabled us to pass on the associated cost benefits to end users as well as offer more eco-friendly solutions.

Owing to the hard work put in by our dedicated team during the pandemic, JF&I Packaging was recognised as the Exporter of the Year in the Printing and Stationery category at the Presidential Export Awards 2019/20 and 2020/21.

In addition, we also won the bronze and silver awards in the extra-large category of Packaging Product Sector at the 28th and 29th Annual NCE Export Awards respectively.

We believe that providing innovative and sustainable packaging solutions for our customers will be a key aspect of our growth over the next five to 10 years.

In alignment with this aim, and backed by our management strategy and expansion pipeline, our ultimate vision and final objective is to be a global leader in the packaging industry, and the leading provider of sustainable packaging solutions.
