Nawaloka Hospitals is celebrating a dual triumph in financial leadership with its Group Chief Financial Officer Theja Vimuktha De Silva and Chief Financial Officer Sampath Thennakoon securing top national honours at prestigious industry awards in 2026.
De Silva was named Best CFO of the Year 2026 at the CA Sri Lanka Best CFO Awards organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka).
Meanwhile, Thennakoon achieved a remarkable triple gold victory at the CPM Sri Lanka Management Leadership Excellence Awards 2026, receiving gold for Executive Decision Maker Leadership (Private Western Medicine Hospitals), Demonstrating Visionary Leadership Competency and the overall gold award in Executive Decision Maker Leadership.
These accolades recognise the transformative financial leadership behind Nawaloka Hospitals’ robust recovery, corporate governance and growth trajectory. Following a loss of Rs. 305 million in financial year 2023/24, the Nawaloka Group returned to profitability with a profit of 56 million rupees in financial year 2024/25.
Building on this momentum, group revenue expanded by 20.3 percent to over Rs. 13.2 billion in 2025/26 with reported profit after tax (PAT) reaching 1.05 billion rupees.
Reflecting heightened market confidence, Nawaloka Hospitals’ market capitalisation doubled from Rs. 7.47 billion to 14.94 billion rupees during financial year 2025/26. Its share price surged from Rs. 5.30 to 10.60 rupees, reaching a peak of Rs. 15.20 during the financial year. This value creation was underpinned by strategic debt restructuring, improved liquidity and rigorous capital allocation.
Complementing its financial resilience, the group reinvested approximately Rs. 1.54 billion in advanced medical equipment including cutting-edge AI powered radiology technology, reinforcing its commitment to clinical excellence and patient care.
As Group CFO, De Silva has spearheaded financial discipline and governance while championing finance as a strategic partner across operations. A member of the Governing Council of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Sri Lanka and CA Sri Lanka, he emphasises ethical leadership, mentorship and continuous development.
De Silva expressed his gratitude to the group’s Chairman Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa, Deputy Chairperson Anisha Dharmadasa, the board and team members for supporting this growth journey.
As CFO, Thennakoon plays a pivotal role in directing capital management, risk oversight and strategic decision making, aligning financial priorities with the group’s long-term healthcare objectives.
Together, these national recognitions highlight the evolving role of modern financial leaders – from traditional stewards to visionary drivers of sustainable growth, resilience and institutional excellence.
