ASUS
DESIGNING THE FUTURE OF BUSINESS COMPUTING
At the launch of the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra, Vice President – Commercial PC Business of ASUS India, Sri Lanka and Nepal Dinesh Sharma shared his thoughts on Sri Lanka’s importance as a growth market, the impact of AI on workplace computing and the future of business laptops.
Q: What was the thinking behind developing the ExpertBook Ultra and what gap in the business laptop market is ASUS looking to address?
A: The ExpertBook Ultra is the culmination of everything we’ve learned while building the ExpertBook portfolio. We started by addressing the practical challenges that business users face every day – whether it was delivering better performance, improving durability, strengthening security or extending battery life.
Business customers also want devices backed by dependable after sales support – so those became key priorities as well. With the ExpertBook Ultra, we wanted to go beyond meeting those functional needs.
Senior executives and business owners rely on their laptops differently. Their work revolves around strategy, decision making and leading teams; so they need a device that helps them stay extremely focussed with total clarity and zero friction, rather than becoming another source of distraction.
The ASUS Design Thinking shaped every aspect of this flagship product. From its nano ceramic coated, scratch resistant finish and highly durable keyboard to its premium 3K Tandem OLED touch display and exceptional battery life, every detail has been engineered to meet the demands of corporate leaders. We’ve also built powerful on device AI capabilities that allow users to work securely without relying entirely on cloud services.
Q: How important is the Sri Lankan market within ASUS’ broader regional commercial strategy and what opportunities do you see for future growth?
A: Sri Lanka is a very important market for ASUS and as it accelerates into an artificial intelligence first era, we are proud to deliver a complete ‘power of choice’ across our new lineup. The strong momentum for the ExpertBook portfolio and recording impressive growth in a year gives us the confidence to continue investing in the country.
Our commitment goes beyond introducing new products. We’re strengthening our local presence by expanding our commercial team while providing extensive regional support.
We have also continued to invest in after sales service, offering onsite support across all nine provinces and ensuring most service requests are resolved within 48 hours. A dedicated helpline for ExpertBook customers further reinforces our brand promise of delivering a ‘worry free business experience.’
We believe the opportunities are substantial. Compared with countries that have similar population sizes, Sri Lanka has relatively high potential for PC penetration. As education levels improve, businesses continue their digital transformation journeys and the services sector expands, demand for enterprise computing solutions is expected to grow steadily.
Greater access to computing has consistently been linked to higher productivity and economic development, and Sri Lanka is well positioned to benefit from that trend in the years ahead.
Q: From your perspective, how is AI reshaping the future of workplace computing and what role does ASUS intend to play in that transformation?
A: Artificial intelligence is fundamentally changing how people work, communicate and collaborate. Today, AI is becoming embedded in productivity software and business applications, allowing the workforce to improve efficiency by automating routine tasks, analysing information faster and focusing on higher value activities.
With the growing ask for on device artificial intelligence, ASUS ExpertBook series has multiple AI PC options capable of running large language models (LLMs) directly on the device – allowing users to achieve lower latency, greater privacy and enhanced security.

We also provide ASUS AI ExpertMeet, an artificial intelligence powered tool for better collaboration and productivity in the workplace. It empowers users with real-time meeting translations, automatic summaries, intelligent audio and video enhancements, and presentation tools that help professionals work more efficiently. This tool is free for life without subscription fees.
Q: Beyond AI, what other trends do you believe will shape the next generation of business laptops? How is ASUS preparing for that future?
A: Artificial intelligence will undoubtedly remain one of the chief drivers of innovation but it’s only part of a much broader evolution in business computing. Users continue to expect lighter devices, longer battery life, faster processors and better displays while businesses increasingly demand stronger security and greater reliability.
Advances in processor technology will continue to improve energy efficiency, enabling longer battery life without increasing battery size. At the same time, improvements in memory, storage and display technologies will deliver even better user experiences.
At ASUS, our focus is on continuously enhancing every aspect of the business laptop experience. Whether it’s engineering more durable products, integrating advanced AI capabilities, strengthening security or providing enterprise grade support, we’re committed to developing devices that help professionals work smarter, more securely and more productively in an increasingly digital world.
