A recent survey conducted by the Department of Census and Statistics reveals that there is scope to improve occupational efficiency among public sector employees.

According to the survey, which was conducted in November 2016, the number of employees in the public and semi-government sectors exceeded 1.1 million, while 60,000 are entitled to a pension scheme, and expected to retire during 2018 and 2022.

In terms of language, 15.1 percent of respondents stated that their proficiency in speaking English is ‘good,’ as well as 23.7 percent about their proficiency in reading and writing English. While 66.8 percent were computer literate, 56.3 percent and 38.4 percent were able to use the internet and email respectively.
