The spotlight falls on Sri Lanka’s corporate standouts in the sixth edition of the Most Awarded rankings

When measured over time, recognition becomes a marker of consistency. This special edition presents Sri Lanka’s Most Awarded organisations – enterprises whose performance translated into sustained recognition across corporate award platforms and sectors in calendar year 2025. Together, they offer a snapshot of leadership, execution and standards shaping the nation’s business landscape.

At the top of the table this year is Talawakelle Tea Estates, which moves up from second place in 2024 to claim top prize, recording 99 awards – up from 93 last year.

Overall, the rankings point to a strong year for plantation companies, many of which appear in the upper tiers.

Last year’s leader, Commercial Bank of Ceylon (ComBank), is placed second with 89 awards compared to 115 in 2024. Despite the shift, the bank maintains a strong presence among the top ranked organisations.

And recording a remarkable upward movement within the upper echelons of the Most Awarded, Kelani Valley Plantations climbs from eighth place to third with 52 awards – an increase from 37 last year.

Beyond the top 10, several companies have registered formidable movements. Hemas Manufacturing for instance, authored the comeback of the year, leaping from a distant 336th place in 2024 to break into the top 20 at No. 19.

Across the table, the rankings reflect a broad spread across the banking, plantations, manufacturing, food and beverage, and insurance sectors, with listed entities forming the largest share, complemented by private sector participation and a smaller representation from state-owned organisations (SOEs).

Sharp movements in the rankings suggest that corporate awards are no longer a closed club for the largest conglomerates. Instead, they reflect a more open arena in which mid-size and specialised business houses can gain ground by aligning with global best practices.

Set against this backdrop, the 2025 Most Awarded rankings offer a clear benchmark of performance, and shine the spotlight on Sri Lanka’s powerhouses and rising stars – companies that are setting standards and driving the nation’s corporate excellence
aspirations forward.
