MODERN PACK LANKA WINS GOLD AT CNCI ACHIEVER AWARDS 2026
Modern Pack Lanka (Pvt) Ltd has won the prestigious Gold Award in the Extra Large Category at National Level at the CNCI Achiever Awards 2026, organised by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI), Sri Lanka’s oldest industrial chamber. This recognition reflects the company’s commitment to manufacturing excellence, innovation and sustainable growth.
Established in 1993 by Ms. Sheamalee Wickramasinghe and Ms. Nishka Wickramasinghe as a joint venture with Modern Pack Singapore, the company initially supplied biscuit trays to Ceylon Biscuits Limited. Over three decades, Modern Pack has grown into one of Sri Lanka’s leading packaging manufacturers, serving customers across the dairy, FMCG, confectionery, bakery, poultry, electronics and apparel sectors.
Its diverse manufacturing capabilities include Thermoforming, Injection Molding, In-Mold Labelling (IML), Blow Molding, Sheet Extrusion and Aluminium Foil Packaging, enabling the company to deliver innovative packaging solutions to leading local and multinational brands.
Modern Pack’s international achievements include winning the prestigious WorldStar Packaging Awards in 2015 and 2025, presented by the World Packaging Organisation. Recognised as the highest international accolade in packaging, WorldStar celebrates outstanding innovation and excellence. The company’s 2025 award recognised its sustainable moulded-pulp packaging solution.
Innovation also extends to the company’s commitment to the circular economy. Modern Pack pioneered the recycling of used yogurt cups into new products, including Yangers, making it the first initiative of its kind in Sri Lanka. This initiative demonstrates how post-consumer plastic waste can be transformed into useful products while reducing dependence on virgin raw materials. The company also actively supports tree-planting initiatives and beach-cleanup programmes.
Further strengthening its innovation credentials, Modern Pack received the “Best Innovation Award” presented by the Industrial Development Board (IDB) in conjunction with Industry Expo 2025.
Its Engineering Design and Fabrication Division provides specialised engineering solutions to the wider plastics industry, including mould design and manufacturing, particularly for blow-moulding companies, as well as mould repairs, helping local manufacturers improve productivity and reduce reliance on imported technical services.
Modern Pack continues to invest in technology, people and sustainable manufacturing practices to strengthen Sri Lanka’s industrial capabilities.
Chief Executive Officer Lahiru Wijerathna, together with his team, received the CNCI Gold Award, marking another significant milestone in the company’s journey.
