International Education Consultancy (IEC) – a leading representative for Australian higher education in Sri Lanka – recently marked its 30th anniversary. Over the years, IEC has bolstered the education sector by offering support to students seeking higher education in countries such as Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Established by S. S. Rajah, IEC says that its visa success rate reflects the effectiveness of its commercial operations in providing personalised services, assuring students of a smooth transition when pursuing higher studies and fulfilling their aspirations.

Managing Director and General Manager Manjula Perera says: “Completing 30 years of successful operations in a market with global giants is a landmark milestone. This was made possible by our vibrant team’s hard work, dedication and untiring efforts to offer the best service.”

She continues: “IEC’s trained team specialises in identifying parents’ and students’ needs to provide personalised services, thereby facilitating their educational and career progression in a sustainable and measurable manner.”

In her view, this philosophy has enabled IEC to not only empower thousands of students to achieve their potential but also led to recognition for Sri Lanka through the global heights reached over their careers.

“We aim to facilitate their growth with competitive credentials and skills that translate into great careers,” Perera explains, adding: “To this end, we’ll continue to evolve, and groom our staff to offer exclusive guidance and services, to students seeking new and rewarding education opportunities overseas.”

Since its inception in January 1990, IEC has become a trusted and reliable consultancy, specialising in facilitating the admission of local students to more than 65 universities and educational institutions in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, assisting in excess of 3,500 students over the years.

IEC offers extensive service packages, which include free personal consultations in selecting suitable programmes based on career objectives and affordability. Moreover, assistance is offered in navigating offers and scholarship application processes with the consultancy tending to the entire process – this involves correspondence from the point of obtaining offer letters to the granting of visas and departure.

Postgraduate research students are also supported by the consultancy with step-by-step instructions such as identifying suitable supervisors based on research proposals.

IEC offers guidance in meeting different immigration authorities’ student visa requirements along with help in uploading e-visa applications, and coordinating e-medical processing and biometrics appointments. Value added services include arranging accommodation and airport pick ups for easy and hassle free transition. Beyond this, IEC helps coordinate visit visas for parents to accompany students and dependent relative visas for spouses.

Based on the reliability of its services, the Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka authorised IEC to process and issue pre-visa approvals (PVAs) when the procedure was available.

Meanwhile, the consultancy continues to be an Education New Zealand Recognised Agency (ENZRA) because of successful student placements in the country, while more Canadian universities and institutions are represented through direct and Apply-Board partnerships.
