The International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank agreed to provide financial assistance to implement climate resilient projects across 11 dry zone districts of Sri Lanka that will directly benefit over 62,000 farming families.

Smallholder agriculture productivity and climate resilience will be improved in hotspot areas through the increased adaptation of climate resilient agricultural practices and technologies, improved agricultural productivity, rehabilitation of irrigation systems and enhanced access to markets in targeted smallholder farming communities.

The 11 Climate Smart Irrigated Agriculture Project (CSIAP) hotspot districts cover six provinces and include Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Hambantota, Kilinochchi, Kurunegala, Monaragala, Mullaitivu, Puttalam, Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara.
