Export Development Board (EDB) Chairperson and Chief Executive Indira Malwatte stated that the Sri Lankan export sector is expected to record an improvement in performance with an increase in value and volumes.

Malwatte cited an expected 12 percent growth in merchandise exports resulting from the EU’s GSP+ concession and growth in sectors targeted by the National Export Strategy (NES).

The goal of the NES is to transform Sri Lanka into an export hub through innovation and investment, which in turn is expected to improve the performance of the export sector.

Malwatte pointed out that the EDB will look to achieve its annual export target of US$ 16.6 million from merchandise and service exports through collaboration with public and private sector stakeholders.
