Sri Lanka Tourism is looking to attract golf enthusiasts to the country as they tour different regions.

Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Sutheash Balasubramaniam stated that journalists were flown in from Germany and Switzerland to visit golf courses in Colombo, Hambantota and Nuwara Eliya, and to create awareness of Sri Lanka’s golfing capacity.

He revealed that along with the golf clubs, the tourism body was looking at the possibility of promoting golf along with leisure as golfers are high spenders. In addition, in a bid generate interest among golf players and enthusiasts to visit the country and tour with their families, it also hopes to attract international golf tournaments.
