The Central Bank of Sri Lanka’s Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy was named the Central Bank Governor of the Year (South Asia) at the Global Capital Market Awards in Washington D.C. organised by GlobalCapital. This event coincided with the 2017 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the IMF.

It states that while “South Asia is awash with highly capable central bank chiefs,” Coomaraswamy “fully deserves this award for his unstinting professionalism and for ushering his country through some choppy waters over the past.”
