Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe called for ASEAN countries and other Asian economies to focus on geopolitics in the region as Asia is set to become the centre of the new global economy over the next two decades.

Participating in a panel discussion on Asia’s geopolitical outlook at the World Economic Forum on ASEAN in Vietnam, he urged stakeholders to bring about a new economic culture in Asia, as well as to define Asia and work together to pursue this goal.

Furthermore, the prime minister stated that engagement of the ASEAN region in politics could balance the increasing competition between the US and China.
