New Opening: Introducing The Warden’s House: Sri Lanka’s Newest Luxury Safari Lodge in Galge

The Warden’s House, nestled in an unexplored corner of Galge and Block 5 of Yala National Park, opens its doors this month in Sri Lanka. From the creators of two of Sri Lanka’s most iconic luxury properties—Galle Fort Hotel and Thotalagala—this boutique property offers four unique suites: Yala, Kumana, Wilpattu, and Horton Plains. Each suite is named after Sri Lanka’s renowned national parks, reflecting the country’s rich ecological heritage.

The Warden’s House features thoughtful, understated decor that draws inspiration from the island’s natural beauty, combining homely comfort with elements that reflect the untamed wilderness surrounding the property. Guests can enjoy the pool situated on the open lawn, offering a perfect spot to relax and unwind. Additionally, the private riverfront area allows for a refreshing dip or a serene riverside meal, enhancing the overall experience.

Designed as an experiential, all-inclusive stay, The Warden’s House provides a range of curated experiences that connect guests with both wildlife and culture. Guests can embark on game drives in Yala National Park, renowned for its diverse wildlife, including leopards and elephants. Bird watching along the Menik River offers sightings of numerous native and migratory bird species, while cultural excursions to the historic Kataragama Devalaya and Kiriwehera temple provide a glimpse into the spiritual heart of the region. For those looking to immerse themselves in local life, guided walks through the nearby paddy fields followed by sundowners offer a peaceful and scenic experience. Additional experiences include visits to Sithulpawwa monastery, cycling through villages and buffer zones, and exploring the ancient Buddhist site of Buduruwagala.

The Warden’s House is committed to sustainable luxury, ensuring a minimal environmental footprint while providing top-notch amenities and services. This ethos is reflected in everything from the eco-friendly design of the suites to the use of locally sourced materials. With accommodations for up to 10 guests, the property is ideal for intimate gatherings, family vacations, or romantic getaways, offering an exclusive and personalised experience in one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful settings.

“The Warden’s House is the third boutique property under our group, after Galle Fort Hotel and Thotalagala. It represents our commitment to creating homegrown, Sri Lankan luxury experiences that are deeply connected to their natural surroundings,” says Amrit Rajaratnam, owner of The Warden’s House. “We aim to offer our guests an intimate and personalised retreat that blends culture into the wildlife safari experience.”
