The Soul of Viet Nam: A Culinary Journey Arrives at Sheraton Colombo

A celebration of Vietnamese culture and cuisine in collaboration with the Embassy of Viet Nam in Sri Lanka and Vietnam Airlines

Sheraton Colombo Hotel is set to bring the spirit and flavours of Viet Nam to Colombo with The Soul of Viet Nam, a special culinary experience presented in collaboration with the Embassy of Viet Nam in Sri Lanka, and supported by Vietnam Airlines.

Taking place from 11 to 20 September, the promotion invites guests to discover the rich diversity of Vietnamese cuisine through an experience inspired by the traditions and regional character of the country. The initiative forms part of a wider celebration of the growing cultural, tourism and business connections between Viet Nam and Sri Lanka, at an especially significant time following the introduction of direct air connectivity between the two countries by Vietnam Airlines.

At Colombo Kitchen, the experience will feature Vietnamese culinary talent from Marriott Resort Danang, Non Nuoc Beach Villas, with Chefs Yen and Dat joining the Sheraton Colombo culinary team. Their menu will offer guests an introduction to the distinctive balance, freshness and regional diversity that define Vietnamese cuisine.

Guests can look forward to familiar favourites alongside regional specialities, including Phở Bò, Bún Chả Hà Nội, Bánh Xèo, Gỏi Cuốn Tôm, Chả Cá Lã Vọng, Bún Bò Huế and Mỳ Quảng. These dishes offer a glimpse into the different culinary identities found across Viet Nam, from the vibrant flavours of the North and Central regions to the fresh, herb-forward character associated with Vietnamese cooking.

Paul Sun, General Manager, Sheraton Colombo Hotel further stated that “Viet Nam is a destination that continues to inspire travellers through its culture, people and cuisine. We are delighted to work alongside the Embassy of Viet Nam and Vietnam Airlines to bring a taste of that experience to Colombo. With direct connectivity now making travel between our two countries more accessible, this celebration is a wonderful opportunity to build greater awareness and appreciation of Viet Nam among our guests and the wider Sri Lankan community.”

“Vietnamese cuisine is defined by its balance, freshness and respect for ingredients. Having chefs from Danang join our team gives us the opportunity to share knowledge and techniques while presenting our guests with an authentic perspective of Vietnamese cooking. We hope the experience encourages guests to explore not only the dishes, but also the culture and traditions that inspire them”, Chef Ramesh Kularatnam, Executive Chef of Sheraton Colombo Hotel on Viet Nam cuisine.

The Soul of Viet Nam will be available at Colombo Kitchen from 11 to 20 September, from 7.00 p.m. to 10.30 p.m., priced at LKR 8,888 nett per person, with savings of up to 30% available on selected cards.

Through the collaboration with the Embassy of Viet Nam in Sri Lanka and Vietnam Airlines, Sheraton Colombo aims to create more than a dining experience – offering guests a window into a country whose culture, cuisine and connectivity are bringing Viet Nam and Sri Lanka closer together.
