The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has been honoured with the award for ‘Best Cross Border Salience – Large & Mid Market’ at the Visa Commercial Solutions Excellence Awards 2025, presented during the recent Visa Leadership Conclave in Colombo.
This annual awards programme recognises outstanding performance across Visa’s commercial payments ecosystem that enables businesses in Sri Lanka with the power of digital payments. Commercial Bank secured the top award for cross border excellence, in acknowledgement of the Bank’s leadership in helping Sri Lankan enterprises transact seamlessly and securely on the global stage.
Over the past year, Commercial Bank has accelerated the rollout of advanced commercial card solutions that deliver real time FX visibility, dynamic spending controls and automated reconciliation for the Bank’s business consumers. These features have fueled double digit growth in outbound and inbound Visa transactions among large and mid-market customers, while reinforcing the Bank’s stringent standards in security and risk management.
Accepting the award, Commercial Bank’s Assistant General Manager – Personal Banking and Retail Products Mr Kapila Liyanage said: “This recognition underscores the success of our strategy to empower Sri Lanka’s large and mid-market clients with cutting edge, cross border payment capabilities. By combining Visa’s global network with our own robust digital infrastructure, we enable businesses to operate confidently across borders—supporting their growth and, importantly, the nation’s economic ambitions. We thank Visa for this honour and our customers for their unwavering trust.”
Congratulating the Bank, Visa’s Country Manager for Sri Lanka & Maldives Ms Avanthi Colombage noted: “Commercial Bank’s commitment to innovation and client centricity exemplifies what the Visa Commercial Solutions Excellence Awards stand for. Their success in cross border salience demonstrates how strategic partnerships and technology can unlock new opportunities for Sri Lankan businesses. Visa is delighted to continue deepening this partnership with Commercial Bank with our shared vision of digitizing payments for large and small businesses in the country.”
This latest accolade adds to Commercial Bank’s rapidly growing collection of industry honours and further cements its position as the market leader in delivering world-class, secure and convenient payment solutions for corporates of every scale.
In 2024, Visa honoured Commercial Bank for ‘Excellence in Launch of Affluent and Mass Corporate Card Variants’ at the Visa Commercial Solutions Client Forum in Colombo, in recognition of the Bank’s commitment to the introduction of Visa’s Corporate Card series in the local market.
