Pelwatte Dairy celebrates Thai Pongal with Tamil Farming Community 

Pelwatte Dairy, one of Sri Lanka’s leading local dairy brands, recently concluded the Thai Pongal festival celebrations by assisting the Tamil farming community.  As it is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Tamil community, Pelwatte Dairy, has continuously celebrated with these farmers to build and maintain strong and meaningful relationships.

This year, Pelwatte Dairy donated nearly 2000 gift packs to the farmers who were celebrating Thai Pongal. The gift pack contained the traditional Thai Pongal Pots, rice, sugar, coconut jaggery, raw beans, and incense sticks. Pelwatte Dairy Regional and Field Officers were also part of the celebration and visited these dairy farmers distributing materials.

Mr. Ariyaseela Wickramanayake, Chairman of Pelwatte Dairy, commented on the celebration: “We are more than happy to connect with the farmers both culturally and religiously to help develop and strengthen our relationships with them. During the celebrations, we were able to have meaningful conversations with each farmer, advise them on their production process and express our gratitude for their contribution and support throughout the years.”

The farmers in this community have greatly supported and contributed to the success of the Pelwatte Dairy Company over the years. Initiatives such as this are just a small token of the appreciation that the company has for the farmers for their contribution and support over the years and in the future as well.
