THE VIGIL Sri Lanka’s 4/21 was commemorated by a call to observe a two minutes’ silence on the morning of that fateful day two years ago and amid growing frustration that this ugly chapter has yet to witness closure. Which leaves the majority of peace-loving citizens wondering whether this will end up being a case of justice denied as opposed to justice delayed. For the record, there’s also the ugly aftermath of the Easter Sunday terror attacks that continue to haunt the citizenry – that was when racist mobs wreaked havoc on a section of Sri Lankans and the authorities did little to nip the violence in the bud. So the people of our precious land continue to wonder when Sri Lanka will come clean on who should be held responsible for what transpired and why multiple intelligence reports weren’t heeded by the powers that be at the time.
