Nippon Paint Sponsors SLIA Student Jamboree 2022

Tuesday, 24th January 2023, Colombo; Nippon Paint Lanka sponsored the 2022 Student Jamboree of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) held recently in Sooriyawewa. The annual event conducted by the Board of Architectural Education (BAE) of the SLIA for the students of the four schools of architecture in Sri Lanka – the University of Moratuwa (UOM), the City School of Architecture (CSA), General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) and the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) – provided an opportunity for them to have a closer interaction before they join the profession as future architects.

Architect Russell Dandeniya , The president of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA)  said, “This is a unique event where 250 undergraduates in their 2nd and 3rd years of study from the four universities that provide architectural courses, came together to work with local communities and build two vernacular structures for the Community Market with technology. The programme at the southern campus of the KDU in Sooriyawewa included a CSR initiative for painting selected areas of the Nugegalayaya Gunarathana Primary School, Kiri Ibbanwewa, Sewanagala, including the play space, pavilion, library and other buildings, and to donate books to the school.”
