YOUR NEW REALITY

Create a desirable lifestyle

BY Archana Law

Many of us feel out of control and victimised by the velocity and direction of life today. Swept along, and buffeted and bruised by world events, we yearn for a life that’s simpler and more satisfying.

But often, we don’t know how to make this change.

Given that exponential growth outside comes from within our space, our best ideas usually surface when we are not thinking about what we’re stuck in.

It’s counterintuitive to think that we need to take time out to give ourselves more time. Creative ideas come when least expected but are we more likely to hear them if we’re in quiet reflection or running from pillar to post?

So what separates people who achieve their goals from those who don’t?

In 2002, American psychologist Prof. Charles Snyder suggested that there are two key obstacles: not believing we can achieve our goals; and not identifying the paths to achieve them. Perhaps the greatest example of this is our tendency to set and then abandon New Year’s resolutions.

Canadian author Bob Proctor says: “Anyone can create the life they want, irrespective of their current or past circumstances, or what other people want or expect of them.”

To create the life we desire, we must think from the inside out since creation begins inside – including the things and experiences that show in our lives. We create our life circumstances in our mind using our imagination before they become our reality.

However, most people either do not understand this or simply don’t use it to their advantage. Instead of shaping their future by thinking about what they want, many people focus on their current circumstances; they then get more of what they already are or have.

Here are some pointers…

NEW REALITY Instead of focussing on or fighting your existing reality, wipe the slate clean with some quiet time and let your imagination flow about how you really want to live in all facets of your life.

Compile a list of all the things that will allow you to enjoy life fully – including relationships, finances, health, career, assets, philanthropic activities and so on. Write a description of your life exactly as you want it to be. Then read your description or think about what you desire as often as you can.

You will begin moving toward the life you want and bringing it towards you.

WHY IT WORKS Though this method may seem too simple to work, it is actually quite effective. Our thoughts are cosmic waves that penetrate time and space, take formless energy and create a form – the image of what we are thinking about.

When an image is planted in the fertile soil of our subconscious minds, it alters the vibration that expresses itself in our bodies through action.

WHAT YOU WANT We can change the automatic habitual patterns of the subconscious mind with new and repetitive thoughts.

Our subconscious mind has no ‘will’ of its own; it works only on the data that you feed it through ideas, beliefs and interpretations. And it always seeks to accomplish the goals that you repeatedly provide.

INTERNALISATION Internalise or get emotionally involved with the idea or image you create. Thoughts that are mixed with feeling or emotion constitute a magnetic force, writes Dr. Maxwell Maltz, in his book titled Psycho-Cybernetics.

He explains: “Picture what you would like to be and have, and assume for the moment that such things are possible. Arouse a deep desire for these things… Your present negative beliefs were also formed by thoughts plus feelings. Generate enough emotion or deep feeling and your new thoughts will cancel them out.”

VIBRATIONS When you internalise a thought, it feeds into your subconscious mind – which is your emotional mind – and dictates the vibration that your body moves into. That feeling or vibration is automatically expressed in action including attracting new thoughts that will take you where you want to go.

ACTIONS This constitutes ‘purpose + passion = inspiration.’ Discover the reason you are here, and the meaning behind your goals and desires.

Then list what you are passionate about (e.g. family, rescuing animals, helping underprivileged people, gardening, writing, painting etc.) and focus on your next best step to achieve the results you desire.

VICTORIES Even if things don’t go as planned, when you pause to evaluate what went well, what didn’t and how you can improve, you’ll be better prepared for the next round.

Celebrating your accomplishments not only feels great and releases dopamine in your brain but it also reinforces what you need to have to accomplish the next goal you set for yourself. Enjoy the process while creating more sustainable habits.

You can’t get to the top of the ladder unless you leave the bottom. So here’s to your success!
