Laptop.lk & Technocity Pvt Ltd Strengthen Education Recovery Efforts with AI IT Lab – Under a LKR 80 Million Initiative .

Laptop.lk and Technocity Pvt Ltd have marked a significant milestone, with the successful completion of a state of the art AI IT Laboratory at Ananda College, Chilaw. The newly established lab features 25 units of the latest branded desktop computers powered by Intel® Core™ i5 processors, modern furniture, a 75” Technoview AI Smart Board, all in one printers, and UPS systems creating a fully equipped, future-ready digital learning environment for students.

The AI IT laboratory at Ananda College was completed with an investment of approximately LKR 10 million. Initially, the group pledged LKR 20 million in cash and LKR 30 million worth of IT equipment. However, following detailed on ground assessments conducted in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Office, the scope of support was significantly expanded to meet the actual needs of the schools.As a result, the total value of IT equipment contributed increased to LKR 60 million, bringing the overall contribution by Laptop.lk and Technocity Pvt Ltd to LKR 80 million under the “Rebuilding Sri Lanka” program.

The opening ceremony was graced by Mr. Pradeep Saputhanthri, Secretary to the Prime Minister, as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honor was Mr. Famy Ismail, Chairman of Technocity Pvt Ltd and Laptop.lk Pvt Ltd, alongside Mr. Kadeer, Director of Technocity Pvt Ltd, and Mr. Hemal Chandrathne, Head of Services and was attended by students, staff, and distinguished invitees, celebrating this important milestone.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Famy Ismail highlighted the transformative power of technology in education: “Technology is the gateway to opportunity. By equipping schools with modern AI IT facilities, we are not just providing computers we are empowering students with the tools to dream bigger, learn faster, and build brighter futures for themselves and for Sri Lanka.”

The completion of this AI IT laboratory further underscores Technocity’s dedication to fostering educational equity and contributing  to Sri Lanka’s long-term recovery and development.
