JXG (Janashakthi Group), Sri Lanka’s leading financial conglomerate, held the second edition of Future Funders, its financial literacy initiative for children aged 8 to 12, on 8 October 2026. Designed to introduce children to essential money concepts from an early age, the initiative reflects JXG’s commitment to contributing to a more financially informed future generation in Sri Lanka.

Held at JXG’s corporate office at Mireka Tower, the interactive session was conducted by Tehan Schaffter, Manager – Strategy & Digital Transformation at Janashakthi Insurance PLC. Using engaging activities and relatable examples, the children explored concepts including the barter system, opportunity cost, inflation, saving, and income, gaining an early understanding of money and everyday financial decisions.

Building on its inaugural edition, Future Funders reflects JXG’s belief that financial education should start early and be made accessible in ways that children can understand and enjoy. The initiative will continue as an ongoing effort to help children develop the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial choices as they grow.

Commenting on the initiative, Gamika de Silva, Group Chief Marketing Officer at JXG, said, “What makes Future Funders different is that we believe financial literacy should start early, as part of life and not only as a lesson in a classroom. The way we understand money, saving, and financial choices shapes many decisions we make later in life. By introducing these concepts to children in simple and engaging ways, we hope to help them build good financial habits and confidence from an early age. At JXG, we see this as our contribution to a broader national effort to build a more financially literate generation.”

Future Funders, in alignment with JXG’s purpose of Breaking Barriers, Forging Futures, forms part of the Group’s continued commitment to meaningful social impact and supporting financial literacy as an important foundation for the future of Sri Lanka.
