Incorporated in 1993, JAT Holdings emerged as a leading conglomerate with diverse interests in wood coatings, paint and paint accessories, and luxury home and office furnishings. The company proudly represents a portfolio of renowned international brands including Sayerlack; Herman Miller ergonomic furniture; Harris brushes and rollers; SEAFORM and OPPEIN kitchens, wardrobes and vanities – in addition to its own esteemed line of brands, featuring WHITE by JAT, Masters, Wallz, J Chem and Brush Master. JAT Holdings boldly expanded its presence in several regional markets spanning Bangladesh, the Maldives, India, Kenya, Ghana, Seychelles and Mauritius as a proud multinational.

Q: How does your organisation stay ahead of the competition?

A: JAT Holdings prioritises this through a multifaceted strategy, remaining steadfast in a commitment to foster innovation, and secure its position as a key player and emerging conglomerate in the region.

We established manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, complemented by an advanced R&D centre, which increases the speed of our ‘go-to-market strategy’ through innovative and cost-efficient products.

We’ve launched a binder plant in Sri Lanka and an alkyd resin plant in Bangladesh, enabling us to source raw material locally.

Recognised for unwavering financial stability even in challenging times, JAT Holdings earned a prestigious National Long-Term Rating of ‘AA(lka)’ from Fitch Ratings.

The company proudly holds the top ranking position as the LMD’s ‘Most Awarded’ entity in the diversified sector.

Demonstrating workplace excellence, JAT Holdings earned Great Place To Work certification, solidifying its reputation as an employer of choice. In times of crisis, we took care of our employees – increasing our cadre, instead of retrenching.

In 2021, JAT Holdings was successfully listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), paving the way for its ambitious plans.

JAT ‘Pintharu Abhiman,’ an award-winning corporate sustainability programme, helped us upskill thousands of painters, helping JAT and the sector to infuse innovative thinking through greater technical know-how. The programme increased painters’ trust and loyalty in JAT.

Q: How is the company contributing to Sri Lanka’s economic future?

A: As a responsible organisation, it’s our duty to contribute to the growth of the economies of the countries we operate in.

We believe our success is directly tied to that of Sri Lanka’s economy. Since 1993, we’ve transformed the sector and lives of Sri Lankans, establishing ourselves as a global player and bringing valuable foreign exchange into the country.

By investing Rs. 800 million in our own binder and alkyd resin plants, which are backward vertical initiatives, we’ve reduced the value spent on imported materials.

Our commitment goes beyond JAT as we advocate for the growth of the paint sector, working alongside other manufacturers to push for local production of titanium dioxide, a key ingredient in the sector. This initiative has the potential to streamline production and reduce costs for the sector, benefitting both businesses and consumers.

Q: What does it take for companies to earn respect internationally?

A: Organisations have commitments to shareholders but need to ensure they’ve strong company values that govern their presence and action in the markets where they operate.

We deliver high quality, reliable and innovative products that exceed customer expectations. A major part of our annual budget is allocated for R&D to ensure that our products and services are customised to suit the local requirements.

Our CSR projects played a major role in earning respect. And our community engagement projects include a training model to educate and uplift the lives of painters in Bangladesh, Africa, India and the Maldives.

We also invest significant time in training our people, painters and stakeholders on products and their usage. The Green Seal certification from the US for WHITE by JAT reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability through green initiatives and reducing our carbon footprint.

Customer service is another key aspect in gaining respect and trust in international markets. JAT technical support assures customers that we will provide high quality customer service.
