Over the last five years, Sri Lanka’s economic challenges have impacted both businesses and consumers. With the country’s recent shift towards economic stability and deflation—the first instance since 1995— ISSO is leading the way as the first Sri Lankan restaurant chain to reduce prices in response to these improvements.

Speaking with said Founder and CEO, Isso Restaurants Private Limited – Apinash Sivagumaaran stated: “At ISSO, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. Since its inception, we have been on a mission to bring people together through delicious prawn dishes at an affordable price. Over the recent years due to many disruptions that resulted in ingredient costs fluctuating, we were forced to adjust our prices.  We know how important affordability is to families across Sri Lanka. As the economy recovers and prices of ingredients have stabilized or come down, we want to focus on the core of our brands purpose to make prawns an everyday food option by making it more affordable.

ISSO’s commitment to quality extends to its sourcing practices, partnering with Alpex Marine (Pvt) Ltd. to support sustainable, locally sourced prawns from Jaffna and Chilaw fishing communities. With an emphasis on freshness, ISSO ensures that prawns are delivered to its kitchens within 24 hours of being caught, maintaining quality through a precise temperature-controlled supply chain from boat to restaurant.

Apinash stated: “By making high-quality Sri Lankan prawns and other seafood dishes more accessible, we hope to offer more people the chance to enjoy our seafood without compromising on taste or quality. We aim to create a dining experience that everyone can be proud of, supporting local communities and strengthening our bond with our customers through every meal.”

Beyond price reductions, ISSO is enhancing its brand experience through technology and streamlined workflows to improve order times and standardise staff training, reflecting the brand’s dedication to quality, efficiency and job creation within Sri Lanka’s local economy.
