Celebration of over three decades in the hospitality sector

Established in 1984, the Galadari Colombo celebrates its 35th anniversary on 6 October with plans already underway to commemorate the special occasion in grand style.

In celebration of its milestones, and product and brand improvement, the hotel management has organised a series of special events. These range from a staff race at dawn, to an overnight pirith ceremony for employees and their families – in remembrance of colleagues who lost their lives in the 1997 World Trade Centre bomb blasts as well as coworkers who passed away due to other tragic circumstances.

A special multi-religious service is to be held on 7 October with the festivities culminating in a grand staff party and service awards presentation taking place on 8 October. Furthermore, a raffle draw is scheduled to be conducted over several days, offering employees a chance to win valuable prizes ranging from gift vouchers to luxury household items.

This year, the hotel continued its collaborative CSR initiative with Manusath Derana, which recruits youth in the area of Kohombagaskada Vidyalaya in Konwewa, Kahatagasdigiliya. Moreover, it decided to increase recruitment to 35 youth to provide them a thorough understanding of the hospitality trade and improve their employability.

With the hotel’s refurbishment plans in progress and green initiatives being incorporated into the new room designs, the property is set to transform to meet the modern demands of the sector whilst retaining its commitment to exceptional service and unwavering Sri Lankan hospitality.
