EDOTCO BRINGS DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY TO DELFT ISLAND THROUGH INNOVATIVE INFRASTRUCTURE
The Innovative Multi-Purpose Lamp Pole solution advances equitable access for one of Sri Lanka’s most remote and underserved communities

Delft Island, October 2026 – EDOTCO Services Lanka (Private) Limited (“EDOTCO Sri Lanka”) has recently successfully extended network coverage to Delft Island, one of Sri Lanka’s most remote and underserved communities. Through the deployment of the Multi-Purpose Lamp Pole, EDOTCO Sri Lanka reinforced its commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions that connect communities.
Delft Island, or ‘Neduntheevu’,is the largest inhabited island in Sri Lanka’s northern seas, located in the Palk Strait, off the Jaffna Peninsula. As a small island community of approximately 4,000–5,000 people, Delft Island has long faced communication and connectivity challenges. Beyond bridging the coverage gap, stronger mobile network coverage is expected to support and elevate local economic activities, improve access to information, and better connect the local community.
EDOTCO’s deployment at Delft Island marks another significant step in its journey to connect every corner of the nation, narrowing the digital divide and advancing equitable access to connectivity, particularly in underserved and hard-to-reach communities.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Gayan Koralage, Country Managing Director of EDOTCO Sri Lanka, “Enhanced mobile coverage is expected to improve access to information, education, healthcare resources, government services and economic opportunities. At EDOTCO, we believe that connectivity is a key enabler of social and economic progress. We look forward to continuing this collaboration in the future and hope that the Delft community will also benefit from further infrastructure advancements, including facilities such as EV charging solutions. I extend my sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to making this project a success.”
