Q: How important is respect for businesses?
A: An organisation can be highly profitable but if you don’t garner respect, there is no purpose in doing business. Profits are necessary so that a business is financially viable to honour its social commitments.

Respect is a basic human value and a cornerstone of business success. Businesses are not merely about brands, buildings, processes and physical entities; they’re about driving people and building business. So honouring social commitments to your people and all your stakeholders is key.

Q: What are the ways in which corporate reputation gives businesses a competitive edge?
A: In today’s brand driven world, people buy brands they trust – and this comes from respect.

If a corporate has a reputation for offering the best value proposition to customers and they trust it to add value to their lives, it will gain a competitive edge.

Gone are the days of enticing customers to buy your brand. These days, you must build your brand out of respect for customers’ needs and wants. Only then will it be a genuine, admirable and respected brand that delivers real value.

Q: Does social responsibility continue to be a part of the ‘corporate respect’ equation?
A: Yes, because the environment is suffering; we tend to forget that the resources available today aren’t only for our consumption but for all living things. If this attitude doesn’t change, we are heading for disaster.

Social responsibility is about respecting our world; it’s the responsibility of businesses to practise social responsibility, and educate customers and stakeholders.

Q: In what way does quality garner respect for corporates?
A: In our line of work, quality is everything. The cosmetics sector is flooded with products and some are not made using approved, environmentally-friendly raw materials.

Despite the regulations in place, some companies use harmful chemicals that aren’t fit for use and can even be cancerous.

Whatever you do – the good, the bad and the ugly – results in how you garner the respect of customers, stakeholders and society at large.

Q: How do the company’s products add value to stakeholders?
A: When it comes to cosmetics, we are in the business of helping consumers gain self-confidence and self-conviction.

Sri Lankans have amazing potential but there is a gap between our capabilities and how we present ourselves – this is where cosmetics come into play.

At Dreamron Lanka, we focus on boosting customer confidence to help them unleash their inner knowledge, power and capacity. This is the philosophy behind our latest campaign – ‘A world-class you’ – where we partnered with our new Brand Ambassador Stephanie Siriwardhana.

We focus on how cosmetics enhance natural beauty, protect the skin against harmful pollutants, and empower customers to be globally competitive, compatible and competent.

These are the same qualities that Stephanie portrays and we’re confident that we will spread this message more profoundly through her.

Q: What are the main features of Dreamron Lanka’s image?
A: There are several – mainly our commitment to economic value creation by minimising the drain of local currency to foreign countries and bringing in foreign income; our delivery of world-class product quality; and our comprehensive range of products serving customer needs from head to toe.

Another unique attribute is the culture of ‘belongingness’ in the business. Our people love the company and take accountability for everything – they are our biggest and best asset.
