DFCC ALOKA EMPOWERS WOMEN IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY WITH ESSENTIAL BUSINESS SKILLS
Two programmes brought financial literacy, tax awareness and business planning to salon owners and beauty professionals

Colombo, Sri Lanka: Salon owners and beauty professionals gained practical guidance on managing their finances, meeting tax obligations and planning for growth through two recent programmes supported by DFCC Aloka.
The first programme, organised by the Institute of Hairdressers and Beauticians at Waters Edge, focused on the financial disciplines behind a successful small business. Participants explored financial management, banking, saving and investment, together with taxation and statutory obligations.
The second, a Salon Owners Entrepreneurship Development Programme hosted by DFCC Aloka at the DFCC Bank Head Office, brought financial and business thinking together with industry experience.
Nayana Karunaratne, Founder of the Institute of Hairdressers and Beauticians, joined other specialists in leading sessions on business growth, taxation, financial literacy, personal branding, capital market investments and the DFCC Aloka Pragathi Loan Scheme.
The programmes addressed a practical reality for many service-based entrepreneurs. Technical ability and customer trust may establish a salon, but sustaining and expanding it also requires an understanding of cash flow, financial records, taxation, investment and business planning.
Both programmes gave participants an opportunity to discuss the day-to-day realities of their businesses with financial and industry specialists. By bringing these perspectives together, DFCC Aloka seeks to help women move beyond managing the demands of today and begin preparing their businesses for tomorrow.
