Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera revealed that Chinese investors were interested in expanding investments in Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector. He made this statement following a discussion with a delegation from Agility China of the Guangdong Province.

The discussion covered topics such as the preservation of fruits, vegetables and other products produced by Sri Lankan farmers, prevention of post-harvest wastage, provision of cold storage facilities to preserve vegetables and fruits, and creating opportunities for organic fertiliser production.

Amaraweera stated that the importance of the group’s suggestions to the country meant that steps would be taken to implement their recommendations.
