The Bank of Ceylon took the commendable initiative to organize the annual pinkama, a ritual of laying white sand at the revered Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya. This significant event, aimed at invoking blessings for peace, harmony, and prosperity across the nation, was conducted under the guidance of the most Venerable Chief Incumbent Atamasthanadhipathi, Nuwara Kalaviya Pallegama Hemarathana Thero. The Chairman of Bank of Ceylon, Mr. Kavan Ratnayaka, and General Manager/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Russell Fonseka notably, the Bank of Ceylon’s Board of Directors, corporate executives, staff members from North Central Province, members of Bank’s Buddhist Association and other officials participated for the ceremony, emphasizing the importance of this spiritual tradition. The Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, symbolizing enlightenment and revered worldwide by Buddhists, remains sacred where Siddhartha Gautama Bodhisattva achieved enlightenment and Lord Buddha bestowed the animisa lochana.
