ST. LAWRENCE’S CONVENT

LAWRENTIANS UNITE TO CELEBRATE 125 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE

St. Lawrence’s Convent marked its 125th year of excellence on August 16th, 2025, with a grand celebration in the School Main Hall. The highlight was a special Jubilee Mass celebrated by His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.

An enchanting entertainment segment followed, showcasing the talents of our young Lawrentians. A new hymn to St. Lawrence, composed specially for this celebration, was performed by past pupil Ms. Jacqueline Hettiarachchi with fellow alumni, while the school choirs and bands captivated the audience. To mark this historic occasion, the Postal Department issued a special stamp and first-day cover.

This magnificent day was masterfully organized under the thoughtful guidance of Rev. Sr. Mary Dilrukshi, our Principal, together with the dedicated efforts of Mrs. Umadanthie Jayamanne, our Vice Principal. Their leadership, combined with the invaluable support of Rev. Sr. Jennifer Fernando and the tireless commitment of the Sectional Heads, gave the celebration a sense of grace, precision, and unity. The dedication of the tutorial staff, was equally remarkable, most notably Ms. Deepa Dissanayake, Prefect of Games and a proud past pupil, whose contribution played a key role. The Past Pupils’ Association and the Parent-Teacher Association worked tirelessly, offering their time, resources, and creativity to enrich the festivities. Behind the scenes, the commitment of the minor staff ensured that every detail was handled with care and efficiency. These combined efforts ensured that the occasion was executed flawlessly from start to finish.

This Jubilee is not the end of a chapter, but the beginning of a greater story. One that every Lawrentian, past, present, and yet to come, is destined to write. As history was made within these walls, the legacy of St. Lawrence’s was carved deeper into time: eternal, unshakable, and forever ours.
