 World Hindi Day -2017

 

Indian Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Colombo will be celebrating World Hindi Day(Vishwa Hindi Divas) on 10th  January 2017 at the Indian Cultural Centre Auditorium located at 16/2, Gregory’s Road,Colombo-7.  World Hindi Day is celebrated on January 10th every year, marking the anniversary of first World Hindi Conference which was held in 1975.

As a part of the celebrations a Hindi journal will be released, being edited and published by Indian  Cultural Centre, which will be the first ever Hindi journal to be published in Sri Lanka. Hindi Prachar Mitra Mandal, Sri Lanka will honor eminent Hindi experts of Sri Lanka for their contribution to spread Hindi in the island. Certificates of appreciation will be distributed to the institutes for their participation in cultural programme and propagation of Hindi.

Pertaining to the World Hindi Day celebration, a Hindi Drama “Dushyanta- Shakuntala” based on  Kalidasa’s “Abhijñānaśākuntalam” will be staged by the Hindi students of Indian Cultural Centre on 6 Friday 2017 at 4.00 pm at  Panibharathi auditorium, University of Visual and Performing Arts, 21 Albert Crescent Colombo 7.This programme is being organized in association with University of Visual and performing Arts.
