Kin of S. Mahinda Thero visits Ceylon on Independence Day to pay homage to the national hero!

The grandnephew of S. Mahinda Thero of Tibet, Dr. T.R. Gyasto of Gangtok visited the temple of sri Sudharma Ramaya Maha Bellana in Alubomulla on National Independence Day, to pay homage to his granduncle, where he lived until his death. The temple is said to hold the cremains of S. Mahinda Thero and is home to many of his belongings which are safekept in a museum.

One of the most active members of the Sri Lankan independence movement, the effort made by S. Mahinda Thero to give Lankans their freedom song, was immense. Facilitated by Connaissance de Ceylan and Theme Resorts & Spas, this visit of the kin of a great national hero on Sri Lankan Independence Day, reminds all Sri Lankans of the great freedom fighters to whom they owe their true freedom.
