Celebrating 110 Years of Scouting Excellence “The journey continues together…”

Scouting began in 1907, founded by Lord Baden-Powell to build character, inspire adventure, and shape young minds. Zahira College Scout Group, established in 1915, has proudly carried that vision forward for 110 remarkable years.

As times changed, so did the troop. Younger children joined as Singithi Scouts and Cub Scouts. In 2022, the troop introduced Air Scouts. A year later came the Rover Scouts, and by 2024, Sea Scouts became part of the family. Today, Zahira College is one of the few schools in Sri Lanka to have all sections of scouting under one roof.

By 2025, the numbers speak volumes: 965 Singithi Scouts, 475 Cub Scouts, 370 Scouts across Scout, Air Scout, and Sea Scout divisions, and 15 Rover Scouts. The troop has won the District Swimming Gala five years in a row and the District Flag Award for three consecutive years. These achievements are built not just on activity, but on dedication, consistency, and belief.

As Zahira College Scouts mark 110 years, they do so quietly and confidently—still walking the path they began over a century ago. Scouting is not just something we do — it’s who we are. It shapes leaders, nurtures compassion, and builds a better tomorrow.

As Zahira Scouts celebrate 110 years of service and adventure, we honor every Scout, leader, and supporter who has made this journey possible. And with pride and purpose, we look ahead—ready to inspire the next generation.
