Hosts 2023 Ran Kekulu Scholarship Award Ceremony

Presenting awards to outstanding students at Bank Of Ceylon Ran Kekulu Scholarship Award Ceremony 2023

The Bank of Ceylon (BOC) is proud to announce the 2023 Ran Kekulu Scholarship Award Ceremony, identifying the academic achievements of grade 5 students who hold BOC Ran Kekulu accounts. This prestigious event took place islandwide, with the main ceremony on 28 June 2024, at the Karaliya Convention Center in Kandy.

Scholarship Details and Awards:

  1. Top 2,000 Students: Among the applicants, the top 2,000 students who achieved the highest scores each received a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 and a medal certificate and gift in recognition of their outstanding performance.
  2. Provincial Achievers: A total of 11,280 students who have exceeded the provincial score were awarded a certificate, exercise books, and a school bag, encouraging their continued academic excellence.
  3. Foreign Currency Account Holders: Additionally, 100 scholarships, each worth Rs. 25,000, granting annually to the highest-scoring students who have a children’s personal foreign currency account.

The highlight of this year’s scholarship programme is the main awarding ceremony. This event honoured 166 students who achieved the highest scores in the Central Province. The ceremony featured the esteemed presence of the Chairman, General Manager and Corporate Management of the Bank of Ceylon. Special prizes and certificates were distributed to qualified applicants through BOC’s extensive network of 655 branches.

To qualify for the Ran Kekulu scholarships and grants, awarded annually, students must maintain a minimum balance of Rs. 5,000 or USD 250 (or an equivalent amount in the children’s foreign currency account).The Bank of Ceylon remains committed to supporting the educational aspirations of young students across Sri Lanka. The Ran Kekulu Scholarship Programme is yet another proof of BOC’s dedication to nurturing future generations and contributing to the nation’s academic growth.
