THARAKA TIME HOUSE FETES LOYAL CUSTOMERS AT 50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
Tharaka Time House commemorated 50 years as the Official Rolex Retailer at a glittering ceremony held at the Shangri La Hotel recently.
Established by Mr Athauda Arachchchige Somasiri Wimaladasa Jayatissa and Mrs Sunitha Jayatissa who opened The first Rolex outlet in 1973, Tharaka Time House has built up a reputation for uncompromising professionalism and expertise. “ We are proud to be part of the worldwide network of Rolex-trained watchmakers and we follow the Rolex Service Procedure, designed to ensure that every timepiece leaving a Rolex workshop complies with its original functional and aesthetic specifications”, said Senior Partner of Tharaka Time House,Tharaka Jayatissa, addressing the gathering .

A champagne march, a dazzling light show, a toast to the loyal clientele of Tharaka Time House proposed by Senior Partner Mr. Tharaka Jayatissa, the cutting of the 50th anniversary cake, and the highlight of the evening which was the unveiling of two new Rolex watches and the presentation of mementos to their long serving employees, made the evening a memorable one.
Mr.Chandrasena Munaweerasinghe who handles administration completed 49 years of service, Mr.Bandula Premalal, Senior Technician who has been with the organsation for 42 years, and Mr.Thushara Nanayakkara,Technician who completed 37 years of service, were felicitated and justly rewarded for their loyalty and unswerving dedication. Also recognized were senior staff members Mr. Dilan Ekanayake, Mrs Rukmalee Jayatissa and Mr.Paramasivam Ravindran.
The new Rolex GMT Master II Saru and the Rolex Daytona Eye of the Tiger which were unveiled by Senior Partner Mr. Tharaka Jayatissa and Junior Partner Mr. Lakdul Jayatissa who has managed the financial division of the Company for the last 10 years, continued to be on display throughout the evening and of course proved to be the centre of attraction.
Made of 18 carat everose gold, beautifully cut diamonds on the lugs, with blue Sapphires and red Ruby’s embedded on the bezel, the Rolex GMT Master II Saru has an 18 carat Everose gold oyster bracelet and a 40mm classic case, with a movement caliber of 3285 and a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. Most importantly you can read 3 time zones simultaneously at the same time.
The Rolex Eye of the Tiger made of 18ct yellow gold and embedded with 92 Diamonds on the lugs and the bezel, has an 18 carat Yellow gold oyster bracelet and a classic 40 mm case, with a caliber of 4130, and a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. It has a paved black lacquered dial with its chronograph contours in a champagne hue, layered with black lacquer and sparkling diamonds, all of which combine to craft a dial that resembles an ‘Eye of a Tiger’.
Tharaka Time House is presently constructing a state-of-the-art four storey showroom totally dedicated to Rolex with the servicing and showroom all under one roof in the vicinity of the Liberty Plaza with each floor consisting of 1700 sq feet and if construction goes as per schedule, it will be open for business towards the end of 2024 or early 2025.
