PIONEERS IN HEALTHCARE Since its founding in 1996, Technomedics International has played a leading role in Sri Lanka’s healthcare landscape. Recognised as a pioneer in the supply and installation of advanced medical devices, the company is also a key player in the design of healthcare facilities and turnkey hospital projects.

Today, Technomedics International is the market leader in Sri Lanka’s medical devices space and employs more than 400 people. The company’s mission has always been to keep its customers’ needs at the forefront by providing end-to-end, high-tech solutions that address the challenges faced by healthcare professionals.

In a strategic leap beyond healthcare, Technomedics International led a consortium of investors in acquiring JF&I Packaging, marking a pivotal move into manufacturing and export.

The acquisition was driven by two key goals: to diversify the group’s portfolio and gain access to foreign currency revenue streams, particularly crucial during Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange crisis.

With this shift, Technomedics International has transitioned from a primarily trading based operation to a group that handles manufacturing and international operations under one umbrella, allowing for greater stability and long-term growth.

On the healthcare front, Technomedics International continues to invest heavily in medical technology and remains at the forefront of the Sri Lankan healthcare sector with breakthrough solutions such as the imminent launch of robotic surgical technology.

PACKAGING POWERHOUSE Founded in 1978, JF&I Packaging has grown from humble beginnings into one of the largest and most diversified printing and packaging companies in South Asia.

With state-of-the-art production facilities in Sri Lanka, and manufacturing hubs in the UAE, Kenya and Bangladesh, JF&I Packaging now serves a wide array of sectors including apparel, medical and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

Having manufacturing facilities close to customers has ensured continuity of the supply chain, reduced regional and country specific risks, and enabled the creation of a complete, self-sustaining ecosystem in one location.

The company provides total packaging solutions, leveraging its global presence to support supplier verticality and improve speed and agility. Industry leaders such as Unilever, Ansell, Nestlé and Ahmad Tea; local giants Ceylon Biscuits (CBL) and Hemas; and major global apparel brands including PVH, Victoria’s Secret, DIM, Marks & Spencer and Tchibo make up its diverse global client portfolio.

Investment in cutting-edge technology has been a defining feature of JF&I Packaging’s growth story – even during the COVID-19 pandemic when many businesses scaled back, the company doubled down on innovation, sustainability and growth.

GROWING TOGETHER The integration of Technomedics International and JF&I Packaging brings together a workforce of approximately 2,000 employees, united by a culture of empowerment and long-term vision.

Both companies are deeply invested in skill building, leadership development and inclusive work environments.

Technomedics International is Great Place to Work certified and continues to nurture young talent by placing students from local universities within the company through its Biomedical Academy, offering hands-on experience and industry exposure.

Approximately a quarter of the workforce is female and as pioneers in Sri Lanka’s medical equipment sector, the company has long served as a training ground for the country’s biomedical professionals – many of whom have been part of the team at some point in their careers.

Technomedics International is also a consistent presence at national medical conferences, playing a proactive role in advancing the country’s healthcare capabilities.

JF&I Packaging follows a similar approach, providing training for students from universities and technical colleges, and offering global career opportunities. Nearly 100 Sri Lankans are currently employed at its international sites where rotation programmes are used to develop cross border expertise.

LOOKING AHEAD Few Sri Lankan companies endure for decades, let alone thrive. Technomedics International has done so for over 30 years and JF&I Packaging for nearly 50 – demonstrating consistent growth while staying under the radar.

With active operations in Sri Lanka, the UAE, Kenya and Bangladesh, JF&I Packaging is already a global player. The company is now setting its sights on further regional expansion into emerging markets such as India and Indonesia.

Through its exports, notable contributions have been made to Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange earnings, resulting in the company winning the prestigious Presidential Export Award in the packaging sector for the past five consecutive years.

As a group, the companies have already achieved market dominance locally, and are now accelerating their regional and global presence through strategic partnerships. With new operations underway in Africa, the focus remains on delivering scalable, affordable solutions tailored to the needs of emerging markets.

The combined strength of Technomedics International and JF&I Packaging lies in their ability to merge cutting-edge healthcare technologies with sustainable, large-scale manufacturing, and offer solutions that are as practical as they are progressive.

In the years ahead, this alliance aims to establish itself as a leading regional force in both healthcare and packaging – drawing on its rich corporate heritage to deliver innovation, stability and growth across South Asia and beyond.
