Sunshine Holdings marks successful completion of ‘Smart Life Challenge’, advancing workplace wellness culture
July 08, 2025: Diversified conglomerate Sunshine Holdings (CSE: SUN) successfully concluded Phase 01 of the ‘Smart Life Challenge’, a three-month employee wellness programme designed to encourage sustainable lifestyle improvements among its workforce. Initiated and led by the Group’s HR team, this programme focused on fostering healthier habits, enhancing physical and mental well-being, and strengthening team spirit across all business units.
The closing event brought together participants to celebrate their dedication and achievements throughout the initiative. A well-being session was conducted by Consultant Dr. Rangika Hettige and trainer Sandeepa Shanaka of Smart Wellness Solutions (Pvt) Ltd., providing valuable insights on maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Mr. Shantha Bandara, Chief Executive Officer at Sunshine Pharmaceuticals, remarked, “This challenge has not only helped improve physical health but also strengthened bonds among teams. At Sunshine, we recognise that investing in employee well-being is fundamental to sustaining a vibrant and productive workplace.”
Dr. Rangika Hettige noted, “Maintaining an active lifestyle through regular exercise and mindful control of food intake is essential for overall well-being. It’s important to understand the do’s and don’ts of staying active while balancing work and life effectively. The connection between mind and body plays a crucial role, and practicing this balance healthily every day can significantly improve both physical and mental health.”
The ceremony concluded with an award presentation recognising outstanding participants. Tihan Madusanka from Healthguard Distribution received the ‘Best Transformer’ award for his remarkable personal progress, while Pharma Team 1 from the Pharmaceuticals division won the ‘Champion Team’ award for achieving the highest collective weight loss. Additionally, Thiruchelvaneasam Logaraj from the Sunshine Pharmaceuticals was honoured with the ‘Most Committed Participant’ Award for his exceptional dedication and motivation throughout the challenge.
Throughout the programme, employees participated in bi-weekly fitness sessions, received tailored nutritional guidance, and tracked their progress with support from professional trainers and health experts. Beyond physical achievements, the challenge fostered camaraderie and motivation that extended across departments.
With the successful conclusion of this phase, Sunshine Holdings celebrates the positive impact the Smart Life Challenge has had on employee health and well-being, reinforcing the Group’s dedication to fostering a healthy and productive workforce.
