Colombo, Sri Lanka – October 21, 2024 – Cementing its commitment to creating a positive, inclusive and empowering work environment, diversified Sri Lankan conglomerate Sunshine Holdings (CSE: SUN) was recognized among Asia’s Best Large Workplaces for 2024 by Great Place to Work®. The accolade is a reflection of Sunshine’s dedication to creating and promoting a holistic workspace for all its associates.

Great Place to Work identifies Best Workplaces in Asia™ by conducting a survey of over 2.7 million employees in Asia and the Middle East about the key factors that create great workplaces for all and analyzing company workplace programs impacting nearly 6.9 million employees in the region. Sunshine Holdings was ranked 57 among the top 70 large workplaces in Asia.

Commenting on this achievement, Group Chief Executive Officer Shyam Sathasivam said, “We consider it a great honour to be recognized as one of Asia once again by the Great Place to Work.  Having previously been recognized as one of the best workplaces in Sri Lanka, this accolade that places us among some of Asia’s best loved organizations is testament to our unwavering commitment to cultivating an open, secure, and diverse work environment that empowers employees to excel in their careers and exceed stakeholder expectations.”

Sunshine Holdings was ranked among Sri Lanka’s best workplaces in the 2023 survey, which warranted entry in to the next level Asian competition. The Sri Lanka credential was based on extensive ratings (>70% positive sentiment) provided by its employees in an anonymous globally recognized survey conducted by Great Place to Work® in Sri Lanka. The certification recognized Sunshine Holdings PLC, Healthguard Pharmacy Ltd., Sunshine Consumer Lanka Ltd., Sunshine Healthcare Lanka Ltd., and Sunshine Tea (Pvt) Ltd.

An interesting survey finding of this year was that companies on the list have higher numbers of employees who report a positive experience at work compared to the typical workplace in Asia. When companies build high levels of trust with employees, they are more likely to be prepared for disruption — including the rise of generative AI. At the Best Workplaces™, 89% of employees report that their company celebrates people who try new ways of doing things — 27 points higher than the 62% of employees who said the same at typical workplaces in Asia.
